Wood: a noble material at the heart of our craft
Wood is a particularly demanding material: alive, sensitive, expressive; it rewards those who know how to select it, work it and bring out its best. At BA CONCEPT, it has played a central role in our workshop for more than 10 years, serving premium professional projects.
Every species and every panel we use is selected for its quality, appearance and durability. Unlike the wood found in DIY superstores, ours is chosen for its freedom from visual defects and its consistency.
This choice matters. Poorly selected wood means a disappointing finish, a piece that warps, a colour that lets you down. We prefer to limit our range to materials we fully master rather than offer an exhaustive list with no guarantee of results.
Our species and panels
Fine veneer panels
Our veneers in oak, walnut and maple are selected to cabinetmaking standards. The surface is flawless, the grain even, the finish impeccable.
Oak is available in different shades depending on the finish: natural for an authentic look, dark for a rustic feel, smoked for an aged effect. Walnut brings unrivalled depth and warmth to prestige projects. Maple, lighter and more uniform, is perfect for contemporary designs or colour printing.
These panels are ideal for premium projects: bespoke POS, luxury signage, premium trophies.
Laminated oak panel
Our laminated oak is made from carefully selected wood, without sapwood. This outer part of the trunk, often found in standard panels, is generally less dense and more sensitive to changes over time.
This choice of raw material makes all the difference: better dimensional stability, a more uniform look and greater durability for your pieces.
For projects requiring a more exclusive species, we also offer laminated walnut on request.
MDF
Available in many thicknesses (3, 5, 8, 15 and 20 mm), MDF is ideal for projects that will be painted. Its uniform density makes it particularly suited to laser cutting and direct printing. Versatile, it takes every finish: paint, lacquer, varnish, veneer. A must for wooden retail displays, signage and personalised items.
Poplar plywood
Available in 3, 5 and 8 mm, poplar plywood is lighter and less dense than oak or walnut. It lacks the nobility of solid woods, but that is precisely what makes it a smart choice in certain contexts.
Its slightly rustic look, with knots and visible layers on the edge, suits projects that embrace a natural, raw aesthetic. It also helpsoptimise costs on larger runs without compromising build quality.
3-ply spruce
3-ply spruce is our go-to material for durable outdoor projects. Naturally rot-resistant, it withstands the weather without aggressive chemical treatment.
Over time it turns slightly grey, a natural ageing that gives it authentic charm, much appreciated in outdoor hospitality, restaurant terraces and premium outdoor fit-outs. Simply a material that ages well.
Compact laminate (wood effect)
Compact laminate is a technical alternative to natural wood for projects where resistance comes first. Very dense and unaffected by moisture and UV, it is particularly suited to intensive outdoor use or demanding environments (kitchens, terraces, public spaces).
Its wood look is convincing. For projects that want the visual character of wood without the maintenance, it is a serious option.
Marking techniques on wood
These materials can be worked with several personalisation techniques, depending on the desired effect and final use:
